My Top 5 Beers for #NationalBeerDay!

Since we’ve all taken up drinking during this quarantine (JOKING GUYS, JOKING!) I thought I’d share a round up of some tried and true and new beer favourites that you might want to add to your repertoire just in time for #nationalbeerday!

It’s pretty cool to think that beer has come a long way in its creation; to the point where so many micro-breweries have popped up within BC alone and they’ve all come up with amazing brews! I’m always fascinated by how something as simple as the ingredients: barley, hops, yeast and water can yield something so different with each brand. Much like wine, they can be appreciated in different temperatures and have different “noses” and “finishes” on the tongue.

If you’re more of a wine drinker and not so much beer, applying the principles of tasting wine to beer makes the experience that much more interesting!

Clearly I could go on, but more importantly today I’m sharing some fun sunny day beer that are sure to please the tastebuds of anyone!

Stiegl Grapefruit Radler

This is the first beer we taste tested and it was DEFINITELY a hit and one to add to your list to try this season. Low in alcohol and high in juice- this one is easy to drink and very refreshing.

Belgian Moon White Beer

This one is more of a classic beer with very high notes of coriander and citrus. Definitely best served cold with a wedge of orange to enhance it’s flavour. As it warms up those coriander notes do open up quite a bit and lend to – what we thought- was more of a tomato-y taste, but still enjoyable.

Schöfferhofer Grapefruit Wheat Beer Mix

This one was really fun to say LOL! This one definitely has more of the traditional beer notes with a side of grapefruit while the Stiegl was more of grapefruit juice with a side of beer. This is a good one if you just want a hint of fruit but more of the beer.

Lighthouse Brewing Raspberry Lime Pilsner

This beer is best served very chilled to get those raspberry lime notes and not the bitter finish at the end. It is a lighter tasting beer and would be quite refreshing on a hot summer day. I would dress this one up with some muddled raspberries too!

Red Racer Lime Margarita Gore

This one is my fave beer – turned – cocktail!! Really enjoyed dressing this one up with the salted rim and a squeeze of lemon/lime. This beer actually has tequila (which if you watched the video, LOL) did a number on me! (haha just kidding!) This one is a fun beer to drink and something different if you prefer a lighter tasting tequila beverage.

I think all of these beers have great qualities and would be fun to add to your repertoire if you’re looking for something new. I’d love to know if you have any other recommendations or if you’ve tried any of these before! Join the conversation over on Instagram today for #nationalbeerday! Cheers!
